Paws for a Sustainable Future

In an age when environmental sustainability is becoming increasingly important, businesses across the world are stepping up to do their part in reducing their carbon footprint and promoting eco-friendly practices. Veterinary clinics are no exception. At Tower Veterinary Centre, we're proud to share our journey towards becoming a more sustainable veterinary practice. Our commitment to sustainability isn't just about taking care of animals but also about caring for the planet they call home.

Active Recycling

Reducing waste and promoting recycling are at the heart of our sustainability efforts. We've implemented a comprehensive recycling program within our clinic to minimize our environmental impact. From separating paper, cardboard, plastics, and glass to responsibly disposing of hazardous materials, we're doing our part to keep waste out of landfills. Our staff and clients are encouraged to participate in this initiative by using designated bins and recycling stations throughout the clinic.

Return of Medications for Proper Disposal

We recognize the importance of proper medication disposal to prevent contamination of waterways and protect wildlife. Our clinic has introduced a medication return program, allowing clients to return unused or expired medications for safe and eco-friendly disposal. This not only helps safeguard the environment but also ensures that medications are properly managed, reducing the risk of accidental ingestion by pets.

Reduced Deliveries to Twice Weekly

To minimize our carbon footprint associated with deliveries, we've taken steps to optimize our supply chain. We now receive deliveries only twice a week, reducing the frequency of transportation and its associated emissions. This streamlined approach not only benefits the environment but also helps us maintain efficient inventory management.

Implemented Energy Control

Energy consumption is a significant contributor to our environmental impact. We've taken measures to control our energy use by investing in energy-efficient lighting and appliances. Additionally, we've educated our staff on the importance of turning off lights and equipment when not in use. Small changes in energy consumption can lead to significant reductions in our carbon footprint over time.

Planting Bee-Friendly Plants

Bees play a crucial role in pollinating plants and sustaining ecosystems. To support local pollinators and promote biodiversity, we've created a bee-friendly garden on our premises. This garden features a variety of native plants that provide nectar and pollen for bees and other pollinators. By contributing to the local ecosystem, we're helping to protect the natural balance of our environment.

Adding Bug Hotels

Bug hotels, also known as insect hotels or habitats, provide shelter and breeding spaces for beneficial insects such as ladybugs, lacewings, and solitary bees. These insects play a vital role in pest control and maintaining a healthy ecosystem. We've installed bug hotels in our garden to provide a safe haven for these beneficial insects, further enhancing our commitment to sustainable practices.

At Tower Veterinary Centre, our journey towards sustainability is ongoing, but we're proud of the progress we've made so far.

We invite you to join us on this journey towards a greener future. Together, we can make a positive difference for the environment, the animals we care for, and future generations.
